Madden 2010 OVR Team Ratings

I couldn’t find a printed list of team ratings, so I thought I’d throw one together based on this youtube video.

As a Patriots fan, I obviously need to comment on how the Patriots are rated pretty highly for missing the playoffs last season. Obviously, with the addition of Fred Taylor, the return of Brady (who claims to be 100%, but we’ll see), and some of the other acquisitions, they could deserve that 93 overall, but it’s still a little surprising. 93 makes the Patriots the best team by overall ratings in the NFL. That could be true, considering that they’re just one year from having the best regular season that any NFL team has ever had, but it still seems high.

I can’t disagree with the Steelers at 92, nor with the Giants at 89. I’m a little surprised by the Chargers at 88, which makes them one of the elite teams in the NFL, by this list, but I don’t think that their 2008 performance was necessarily very elite. Generally, this list definitely displays the drop in ratings that the Madden crew wanted to achieve. A lot of fans are upset with the ratings because they have arbitrary ratings numbers in their head, and aside from Rams, Raiders, and Lions fans, most fans think that their teams should have solid “80″ ratings. Seeing their team with a “70″ next to them is causing some ruckus. Aside from the Patriots being the highest rated team, I generally think the ratings are pretty accurate.

I think the still with the top strong safety rated a 98-99, the defensive player of the year James Harrison a 98 rating, Big Ben a 90+, and Casey Hampton a 90+ is alone enough for them to be at least a 93 along with the Pats. They are the Superbowl champs. This is the second straight year the Pats are rated higher than the team that won the Superbowl, but all in all the ratings are fine.

Man the Bears could get one or two more points. They are the best team in the NFC north especially after the vikings get Brett Farve who will make them a worse team not better

the dolphins should be rated a little higher the won the AFC east last year beat the jets who are rated 78 and pats who are rated 93 and i dont want to here anything about an easy schedule the whole afc east had basicly the same schedule or tom brady got injured because the jets played the pats when he was injured also

How are the Titans only an 87? They were the best team in the league during the regular season, and should have won the Ravens game in the playoffs easily. Sure they lost Haynesworth, but they still are very solid at the defensive tackle position. They will have a top 5 defense and a great running game with Johnson and White. Oh, and how the hell are the Chargers an 88?

Collins is below average. White is below average. They're main threat is Chris Johnson, but he's just a running back.

Judging the NFC West, if St Louis is 66, 49ers 73 and Seahawks 77…then the Cards should be between 75 and 80 at the highest.

They only did well in the playoffs, got hot and won when it counted. Other than those few games they are still a subpar team. They got talent for sure, but if theres ever a poster child for having talent and not knowing how to use it, it's the Cards. For the last 5 years they've been the trendy pick to win the NFC West and be playoff dark horses, but every year they crumble. Last year was the one time they didn't…but don't be surprised if they go back to their old ways. They are still mediocre on the verge of being an actual contending team. Seahawks get injured and they nose dive in ratings and the Cards have one real season and they skyrocket to one of the top teams. Just wait until Warner retires or breaks a hip and stops playing super-gramps at QB….having Fitz and Boldin will be pointless.

djlethal08 July 23, 2009 at 5:08 am: The Cards will probably win their division again because simply their division sucks. The only team I can see competing with them are the Seahawks. But all and all the Cards are a better than average team that I expect will make the playoffs this year, however a return to the Super Bowl I find highly unlikely though I didn't expect them to make it last year. So that's why they play the games, I guess we'll see.

The dolphins beat the Jets in the last game of the season and knocked them out of the playoffs while proceeding to win the AFC East. Dolphins were 11-5, Jets 9-7…and then the Jets lost Brett Favre and stttttttiiiiillllllll the Jets are ranked higher than the Dolphins…I dont get it

How does no one know about the decreased ratings Madden is doing? Everyone that comes on here and complains that the ratings have gone down compaired to the 09 ratings are just showing they have not payed attention to the development of this game. Example : "Danny :WTF PANTHER 83 ARE YUO KIDDING

this is corny ratings, they are rating the teams on how they did last year, when they should be doing it on this year and all the additionas they added on.

how can you give ratings on teams for this year when they havent played yet. and how does one know if the additions a team made during the off season will be good or bad.

i feel like the Ravens should be rated higher considering they made it to the AFC Championship and barely lost. afc championship means top 4 team. i can understand why they would drop a little with the loss of bart scott, but down to an 82 and the 11th overall team?? that doesn't seem to make sense…

Whoever rated these teams are definitely Chargers fans. They got an 88 but deserve an 85. And, the Broncos got a whopping 70(WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!) when they should at least get an 82. The O line only has 2 people within the 80's overall, and the rest 70's. What part of only 9 sacks on Jay Cutler all season don't these people get? The Raiders only have 3 people anyone even gives a damn about ( McFadden, Asomugha, and Justin Fargus) but still get better than Denver. Let's see who the Broncos have: B. Marshall, Eddie Royal, Champ Bailey, Brian Dawkins, D. J. Williams, and more. 70 is not even close to being high enough. The Broncos got screwed, no doubt about it.

Ryan July 6, 2009 at 2:07 pm: I disagree. Everyone knows the Broncos are rebuilding. There rating shows that. Not many teams can trasition to a 3-4 and be sucessful in the first year. These are teams with players who fit a 3-4. Denver does not even have that luxury. There is no true NT. Everyone in the front 7 is suspect. Even Williams as he was not drafted to play in a 3-4. Your first round defensive player will be good but is untested in the NFL so far. Bailey is good, how old is he again and will he injure something else this year? Same with Dawkins. And the reason Cutler only had 9 sacks or whatever is because he is a mobile guy in the pocket. He also has a quick release. I don't think either of those things apply to the current group of QB's. BY rating individual players then averaging out the 24 starters Madden comes up with their team rankings. I would say that the Broncos are about where they should be.

Especially now that they now have Brian Dawkins–an elite safety in the NFL, Champ Bailey–an elite cornerback, Brandon Marshall–an elite receiver, the offensive line could have been way better(ratings wise), and what is with Elvis Dumervil being a 65 overall under the two unknown tackles. I mean c'mon… when you think of the Broncos defensive line, who comes to mind first?– ELVIS DUMERVIL–why? He is the most well-known guy on the line. Usually when you are the most popular on a defensive line, it usually means you are the best.

Ravens rating = crock of shit. That puts the panthers, chargers, giants, colts and titans as teams that easily do not deserve to be ranked higher. Titans fans: "wah wah wah.. we shoulda, coulda, woulda won that game" BUT YOU LOST!!! Other teams could be debated, but which of these "better" teams made it further than the ravens? The ravens took the super bowl champs to the limit while half the team was injured. The panthers, chargers and giants ratings are a joke FUCK YOU MADDEN 10! I'll still play the shit out of this game tho….

to be honest i think the pats should be a higher rating. they are going to do extremely well this year, an almost guarentee they will win afc east and superbowl. brady is the best qb in the game and moss in amazing. not to mention all the players who have been added to the team (galloway, taylor, etc.) yeah the defense may not be as good as the steelers so i can see why they have such a close rating but i think the steelers should be higher too. this season the patriots are going to be an absolute force

i saw TJ Houshmandzada (sorry for that butcher on his last name) on espns first take debating the 2 guys that come up with the ratings,they say the new ratings are suppose to allow for improvements in the gameplay, you get teams ranked at 99 ovr and they are over perfect at everything, This will allow for a team like carolina or minnesotta ( dominate running teams) keep up with week rush defense teams such as indy, because every team has a achillies heal, also there are over 50 ratings per player now so not every player is a leet. This should be the best gameplay for madden since…..well ever

i like having my team (the redskins) rated low because then when you play people you blow them out of the water with a team thats ranked lower and you get more points on xboxlive so im not complaining

all dis is bogus… honestly there will be some changes after enough complaints come through like last year…
but im the best cardiac cat panther fan there is… and im not surprised that they made these numbers low and the pats surprisingly high, because madden will always and i mean ALWAYS make sure they make the pats an elite team period, and then u have the eagles.. they really deserve to be higher (based on the way they made the ovr ratings) and if there is one thing im afraid of this year is the running speed and style of the playrs- devin hester and reggie bush and chris johnson and darren sproles, and even deangelo williams all have diffrent running styles.. based on the videos ive seen icluded with the demo, im pissed how they run the ball like brandon jacobs did in 09- like a power back???? cmon be authentic if you press about bein authentic…

The official stats are on the official NFL website. I'm shocked at the J-E-T-S rating, but you never know… I know Rich Eisen is a Jet fan, so maybe he tweaked it

Stats are based on the teams PLAYER STATS, NOT BY RANKING FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR.
BASED ON THE OUTCOME OF THE 2009-2010 Season, NOT the 2008-2009 SEASON… DUHHHH

They're returning the entire team plus an improved secondary and even if you think the Saints won that game, how do they drop from the team finishing 3rd/4th overall to 13th????

Dude the jets should be like a 80 and the 49ers should be a 75. Jets are the second best team in AFC East and Wild Card Capable. 49ers could snag a Wild Card in the NFC or maybe the NFC West
